soulae would like to remember a great African American writer,
Mr. E. Lynn Harris. This
summer has been filled with the losses of those artists within the African
American community. At the early age of 54, Mr.
Harris joins those that we will remember for their work and dedication to
their craft.
E. Lynn Harris books have been read and enjoyed by millions
of readers. Even though his work was controversial due to the nature of the
topics he covered, gay and lesbian issues as well as bi-sexuality, he was still
a best-seller. Mr. Harris is known for opening the eyes of African American
women all over the country to the concept of “down-low” brothas.
The first E. Lynn Harris book I read was “Any way
the wind blows”. This book kept me turning pages and left me wanting more.
He has written many other titles such as, “And this too shall pass”, “I say a
little prayer” and his most recent “Basket Ball Jones”. Not only is he an
acclaimed author he was a force to be reckoned with in the African American Gay
and Lesbian Community.
