Often times when we are on the look-out for a new job, someone to help us plan a wedding or even fix our computer we take to the web to locate people we don't know to help us get what we need. In this economy everyone is looking for a come-up, a side gig, a lil extra money on the side, or a way to build their business.
The first thing you should do is make a list of the people you know and include on that list what it is they do and their contact information. You will be surprised and how the list grows and the different skills, talent and abilities you have within your own personal network of people.
Why not hire someone you know to do the job you are looking for. I can rattle off in about 30 seconds someone I know that does graphic design, websites, event planning, weddings, insurance and so much more. Using people you know means you can trust you will get what you need, you can help them to grow their client portfolio and they can help you do the same for your personal brand.
By referring people you know they are more likely refer you and this will create a cycle and a growth in your personal network. This will help you and those around you to build a solid network and establish repeat clientele.
For example: "Your company has an opening, shop it around to your friends and acquaintances first." Someone you know may be looking for employment or may know someone who is qualified for the position. You never know who you may benefit. This lends true to thee old adage, "It's not what you know but WHO you know."
So let us know who you are and what you do. This way I can add you to my list and refer you when the time arises.... We can also feature you and/or your company and help to send traffic to your website, facebook page or inbox.
The previews to "The American" had me very excited to see the movie. Not to mention I am a George Clooney fan (from way back in the "ER" days). So with that said, I found a sitter, ventured to the new theater in my area and used my Regal free movie ticket to get in.
One thing I have to tell you about me (yeah its kinda relevant to this movie), I am what you would call a "preview watcher". It is common practice for me to get to the movies about 30 minutes early so I can catch ALL the previews. For me it is better to watch the trailer on the big screen as opposed to on my laptop. I should have known by the previews what to expect from this movie. It was the first time in a long time that I sat in the theater and was not excited about any of the "coming soon" messages.
"The American" starts with a cozy fireside chat between to lovers that decide to take a walk on the frozen lake. Now me, I am expecting for the lake to give way, but nope shooting starts and you are on the edge of your seat. You see George showing off his bad ass secret agent skills and you're all in.
Skip to Italy where the rest of the movie takes place and not only have you decided to recline in the new, stadium seats, but you can barely keep your eyes open. You watch a paranoid, aged Clooney wandering around small Italian towns constantly under the assumption that someone is either following him or trying to kill him. Suspicions go from a local Priest to the local prostitute and the movie drags for about an hour.
It took me a while to figure out exactly what his profession in the movie was actually supposed to be. For some reason, it was hard for me to swallow that the part was that of an assassin. I would have better guessed gun-maker, or arms dealer of some sort but assassin just did not come across in the film.
Just as I am about to fall asleep, having been soothed by the snores of the person sitting behind me something good happens........
more action, shooting, car chases all the good stuff......... and then.........Just like that.......
the movie is over and you are left wondering "what the hell was this all about". Its not that good kinda feeling you had when you walked out of "Inception". You know that feeling of damn Leo, this is crazy, did all that really just happen?
No, that's not the feeling you get... People left grumbling about the torture they just endured and how the hell we got stuck with such a crap ending. The sleeping man behind me was grateful for the nap and everyone else was moaning about how they should have seen "The Expendables".
I can say that we should not expect a sequel to this movie and that is definitely a good thing. It was nice to watch George for close to two hours, but soulae has to give this one 1 star. Wait for the DVD or dare I say it *looking over shoulders for secret agents* just download it, save your money all together.
Next up for review........"The Town"
No matter how you go about it looking for a new job can be challenging. One of the challenges that job seekers face is that dreaded little detail of “past employment history”. Especially for those that have been working with a company for a while and have recently returned to the job-hunt. It can be hard to remember employment history facts on a normal basis, let alone trying to remember exact dates of hire and departure after working for a long period of time. There are several ways that you can find the information you need regarding your employment history:
Once you have gathered the information you need, be sure that going forward, with every new position you begin you update your resume to reflect your start date and your end date when you leave the company. This way, in the future you will not be faced with having to search for your employment history. Also, keep a portfolio of your employment information, it can include things such as:
This way when you come across these questions on applications and in interviews you will be prepared.
Let me first say that this was an email I receieved and I wanted to share it with you. It was written by a gentleman and it shares his very candid thoughts on the importance of sex in his (and what he presumes to be other mens) relationships.
As I get older, I feel the marriage pressure building. Getting sex is beginning to get harder. Not because its anything wrong with me, but because at this age (late twenties – mid thirties), women begin to start looking at you as “marriage potential.” So, whereas they would give it up on the first night, they now hold out in the hope that, you will see them as “a good girl,” worthy of wife’ing and marrying someday.
Every single man I know who is under 40 and married is cheating or has cheated on his wife. The rest of them are about to get divorced. This does not motivate me to walk down the aisle anytime in the near or distant future.
When I talk to them, it’s usually the same problem stated in various ways. They were bored or neglected sexually. With the rigors of marriage and life and kids—if they are involved—the woman tends to become consumed in other, non-sexual things. The man however is still looking to get some. I have noticed in my own relationships, that every time the woman gets mad, the first thing she does is stop having sex. It supposedly has something to do with some kind of emotional/physical connection that they have where they have to be in the right “emotional state” to want sex. Well, the only emotional state I have to be in to have sex is awake!
Next Friday is the much anticipated (by me at least) release of "Takers". I have been waiting to see this flick for at least seven months now. August 27th this movie opens in theaters all across the country.
Humm, why so much anticipation?

Well Mr. Ne-yo has done it again. Champagne Life is on constant repeat and I am loving it... I was a little skeptical when he release Beautiful Monster. My first thought when hearing that track was "is Ne-yo doing club music now?" I am sorry to be so hard on Ne-yo but he always brings the heat so I expect nothing but the best from him.
His new album Libra Scale is set to be released soon (September 21st) and I am sure it is going to be just as much a banger as all his other projects.

I applaud the way this brother stand up for his sister but I wonder........
Why is it that the media must constantly show "people of color" in such a negative light? All I could do was shake my head when I saw this clip. The seriousness of this crime is being diminished and over-shadowed by the "performance" that was given by Mr. Dodson. He has become an internet phenomenon and I ask, is it for a good reason?
Well at least he can enjoy his fifteen minutes of fame. This clip has neen remixed, remade and re-worded to continue to bring entertainment to the rest of us!
Two ladies seeing how far we can walk in our stilettos.
